What We Collect

LifePlusWisdom collects the minimum data needed to provide the ritual:

  • Session cookie — A random identifier stored in your browser so your ritual completions, streak, and journal persist across visits. No personal information is stored in this cookie.
  • Ritual completions — A record that you completed a day's ritual, the passage shown, and your optional one-line evening reflection (your journal). Stored in our database, visible only to you.
  • Time zone offset — Stored so your streak rolls over at your local midnight (and, if enabled, so a reminder arrives at your local hour).
  • Share links — When you share a passage, the link points to that passage's public page. No personal text is included.

If You Create an Account

Account creation is optional and uses passwordless magic links. If you register, we additionally store:

  • Display name — The name you choose.
  • Email address — Used to send magic-link sign-in emails, and — only if you explicitly opt in — the optional daily reminder. No marketing email, ever.
  • Streak & reminder preferences — Your streak and, if set, your chosen reminder hour.

When you create an account, your anonymous ritual history is migrated to your account.

How We Use Your Data

  • To show today's passage, your streak, and your private journal.
  • To send magic-link emails when you request to sign in.
  • To send the optional daily reminder, only if you turn it on.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. We do not serve ads.

Analytics

We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool. Umami does not use cookies, does not collect personal information, and does not track users across websites. All analytics data is aggregated and anonymous.

No AI

Every passage on LifePlusWisdom is a public-domain translation of a real Stoic, chosen and glossed by a human. Nothing that reaches you is AI-generated, and your reflections and personal data are never sent to any AI provider.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data — View your saved reflections and account information.
  • Delete your data — Request deletion of your account and all associated data by visiting your account settings or contacting us.
  • Export your data — Request a copy of your data by contacting us.

Data Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are not stored (we use passwordless authentication). Session cookies are HttpOnly and SameSite-protected. The database is hosted on secure infrastructure with access restricted to the application.

Data Retention

  • Anonymous session data (no account): retained for 1 year, then automatically deleted.
  • Account data: retained until you delete your account.
